HOMESITE

Five (Chinle, Crownpoint, Shiprock, Tuba City, Ft. Defiance, Utah) Agency offices within the Navajo Nation assist clients in obtaining a one-acre residential lease for 75 years. The Leasee has an option of renewal of lease or assign the lease to another individuals or even terminate the lease. The lease provides an opportunity for the Navajo families to build a home or even mortgage a home with lease hold interest. Before obtaining a HSL, the Leasee must comply with all federal and Navajo environmental laws to obtain clearances to build a home on the Navajo Nation.

MISSION STATEMENT

To assist out Navajo people to obtain a one-acre home site lease to build a home on Navajo Trust and Fee Land with compliance and clearance of federal and Navajo environmental laws.

GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

To streamline the Homesite lease process to better serve the Navajo people to obtain lease hold interest.
  • Ensure homesite lease application is completed with all requirements
  • Ensure homesite lease consents are acknowledge by the grazing permittees and the Grazing Officer.
  • Ensure a Biological evaluation is conducted for the homesite lease by Navajo Fish & Wildlife.
  • Ensure an Environmental Review is conducted by Navajo Environmental Protection Agency
  • Ensure an Archaeological Clearacne is conducted by Historic Preservation Department.
  • Ensure a Legal survey is conducted by a License Registered Land Survey for a legal survey.
